AMF Life Systems’ development team includes some of the foremost experts in both the theory and practical application of alternating magnetic fields in the kHz and low MHz range. New alternating magnetic field processes and technologies are optimized at AMF Life Systems, utilizing both virtual engineering and empirical validation.
To foster partnerships with leading researchers in the medical market who are exploring promising technologies that could benefit from induction heating, such as nanowarming for organ preservation and have the necessary resources to support the translation of the technology to the market.
In 1981, AMF Life Systems’ founder, Fluxtrol, Inc., was established, specializing in the control of alternating magnetic fields from DC to the low MHz frequency range with a focus on materials for magnetic flux control, process and induction coil optimization and cooperative development of new technologies.
In the late 1990’s, Fluxtrol began working on applications for magnetic hyperthermia, including the heating of interstitial self-regulating Thermal Rods for prostate cancer with Ablation Technologies. Then, in 2001, Fluxtrol began working in the area of magnetic nanoparticle hyperthermia with the Triton Systems group.
As activity and potential for the market increased, AMF Life Systems was founded as a stand-alone company in 2008 to develop systems for medical therapies utilizing alternating magnetic fields.
Since then, AMF has built equipment for research use at several prestigious universities around the world. AMF equipment has already been used to show efficacy for cancer treatment in mice, rats, rabbits and on large animals for treatment of oral cancers in dogs and the ability to nanowarm viable cryopreserved organs and tissues up to 80 mL in size.
AMF Life Systems continues to foster partnerships with leading researchers in the medical market who are exploring promising technologies that could benefit from induction heating, such as nanowarming for organ preservation and have the necessary resources to support the translation of the technology to the market.
